Skeleton
Keyframed character animation study translating real-world movement into a looping performance.
Project Overview
Skeleton is a short character animation study focused on translating real-world movement into a clean, looping performance. The project centres on observation, timing, and weight rather than stylisation, resulting in a loop that feels natural and continuous.
The animation was built using a pose-first workflow, starting with strong key poses informed by real-world reference. Particular attention was given to silhouette clarity and spacing, ensuring the character reads clearly and remains visually balanced throughout the loop.
Movement is intentionally restrained, relying on subtle shifts and offsets to create a sense of weight and personality. Small delays between body parts introduce secondary motion, helping the animation feel grounded and human rather than mechanical.
The final loop demonstrates a considered approach to keyframing and motion fundamentals, showing how simple movement and clear posing can effectively convey character without unnecessary complexity.
